Resources

Ongoing Projects of Erwin Kiwanis Club:

"Raising of the Flags" in downtown Erwin

As a total community effort, our club purchased new American flags -- through private donations only -- which members display each Memorial Day, Flag Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Veterans Day, and Election Day.

Summer Campfire Programs at Rock Creek Park

This popular program is organized, funded and hosted by our club on Friday nights at the outdoor amphitheater at Rock Creek campground in the National Forest, just outside Erwin.

Annual Pancake Day

Community fundraiser held annually in early April, a true celebration of the Art of Pancakes.

Commemorative Ornament Sales

Fall-Winter fundraiser of unique collectibles . . . a total sellout every year!

Apple Festival Peanut Days

Our club sells the famous Kiwanis Peanuts at the huge annual Unicoi Apple Festival.

Annual Kids' Christmas Shopping Trip

Perhaps our most notable annual project, our club funds and hosts the annual holiday shopping trip for needy local children. Held approx. 1st Saturday in December. Our club has continually spearheaded this worthwhile community effort, originally named "the shoe fund", for more than a half-century.

Adopt-a-Spot Gateway Cleanups & Landscaping

Our club maintains TWO spots, the landscaping along Erwin's Main Street exit along I-26,
as well as the upper Rock Creek Road (TN route 395) in the Unaka Mountain National Forest.

Annual K-Day Radio Program Fundraiser on WEMB

Important annual fundraiser -- and information program -- as radio station WEMB opens its airwaves for community-sponsored messages to benefit our Kiwanis Club's childrens' programs.

Kiwanis Reading Program

A true community outreach, our club members annually participate in the volunteer reading program at area elementary schools.

Kiwanis Park Development along Erwin Linear Trail

Currently our signature project, the development of an all new age-appropriate and special needs play and learning park along Erwin's popular municipal Linear Trail.

Kiwanis Little League Park

This park was developed by our club in 1976, which we have continually supported since its inception.

"Healthy Lunches" Applesauce Donations

Another outreach program to provide healthy lunch menu items to needy school children.

Worldwide childhood parasite eradication program

Our club was a leader in funding for this worldwide effort to eliminate a little-known affliction to children in developing nations.

Key Club/Builders Club sponsorships

Our club proudly sponsors our area schools' youth service clubs, the high school Key Club and middle school Builders Club.
